Brown Company Band, believed to be taken at the Berlin High School auditorium. Bandleader Felix Pisani, accomplished artist and musician, was a painter by trade who painted, among other things, the interior of the Congregational Church (upper Main St./Berlin) and the elaborate ceiling of St. Kieran’s Irish Church (now the St. Kieran Community Center for the Arts on Emery St. in Berlin). It was estimated that there was a potential musical force of 50 people among Brown Company employees. Band officers were elected and included James Baldassara, president; Sherman Twitchell, vice president; Clinton Bixby, secretary-treasurer; Joseph Basile, librarian; Felix Pisani, bandleader; G. G. Micucci and Gene Anderson, assistant bandleader; Lucien Langlois and J. Arthur Sullivan, business managers. The band’s purpose, similar to that of their predecessors, was “to do whatever is for the good of the greatest number” in the way of entertainment.
